A great effort has been put into cancer research in the past few years. The laboratories with this subject are veritable hives of activity, and one of the results of their work is an over-increasing list of agents chemical, biological and physical - that are capable of producing cancer. In 1916 two Japanese scientists names yamagiwa and Ichikawa painted the skin of rabbits with tar regularly for a number of months. This resulted in the production of a cancer at the site to which the tar had been applied.
